AMC Launches Online Tracking System After Suspected Malpractices in Hardware Orders

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has launched a mandatory online tracking portal for purchasing and replacing IT hardware, aiming to plug financial leakages and curb potential irregularities in equipment procurement.

Under the new directives issued by AMC’s e-Governance department, all complaints and procurement requests regarding computers, printers, scanners, CCTV units, network infrastructure, and related consumables must now be processed exclusively through an official portal.

Digital Paper Trail to Curb Duplicate Purchases

Previously, municipal staff and officials lodged complaints by telephoning vendors directly or informing them verbally through zonal engineers. This practice left no consolidated record of replaced components, making it impossible to track whether items such as hard disks, mice, or other hardware had been recently swapped or purchased.

The centralized system creates an audited log of all repairs, components replaced, and equipment history for every machine across departments. AMC authorities aim to eliminate duplicate ordering and save public funds through accurate tracking.

No More Verbal Complaints, Billed Strictly via SLA

The e-Governance department informed all municipal branches that rate-contract agencies will now attend only to grievances logged on the portal. Verbal reports or off-the-record requests to vendors will no longer be recognized as official complaints.

Under the new policy, service level agreement (SLA) monitoring and vendor bill clearances will depend strictly on portal-generated data.

To report faulty hardware or request items like printer toners, cartridge refills, ink bottles, pen drives, or replacement hard disks, employees must log into www.ahmedabadcity.gov.in using their official employee credentials under the ‘COMPUTER/PRINTER COMPLAINT LOGIN’ section. Users will receive a complaint tracking number, view assigned agency details, and check real-time repair statuses online, while existing procedures requiring signed indents from competent authorities and delivery challans remain unchanged.
