Ahead of World Malaria Day, UPL SAS, in partnership with NGO Clean and Green Charitable Trust, has taken a significant step toward the eradication of malaria and dengue with its Public Health Solutions in Udvada. Leveraging these solutions, UPL SAS aims to transform the village into a vector-free zone – reinforcing its commitment to community development.
As part of this initiative, UPL SAS demonstrated its cold fogging technology in Udvada, offering a safer and more environmentally responsible alternative to conventional thermal fogging and larvicidal application which controls on larval stage resulting in reduction of mosquitoes.
Udvada, a village of approximately 8,000 residents, is known for its deep cultural and spiritual significance as a holy site for the Parsi and Zoroastrian communities. The town sees regular footfall from devotees and tourists, making vector control crucial for public health. Recognising the commitment of the local community in maintaining a clean and disease-free environment, UPL SAS partnered with the community and the NGO to implement this focused health initiative.
Speaking about the initiative and new solutions, Mr. Ashish Dobhal, CEO of UPL SAS, stated, “UPL SAS’ public health initiative goes beyond agriculture—we are committed to community well-being and environmental sustainability. By offering reliable, effective, and scalable solutions for mosquito control, we aim to support India’s public health goals and create healthier, safer living environments for all. We believe collaboration with the NGO and Udvada community is key to achieving lasting impact. To maintain these efforts, the cold fogging activity will be carried out every 3 months to ensure Udvada remains safe and free from vector-borne diseases.”
Speaking about UPL SAS’ solutions, Mr. Subrata Pal, Head of Public Health Business of UPL SAS, said, “UPL SAS, along with its partners, has a comprehensive approach that combines public awareness, habitat modification, larval, and adult mosquito control by focusing on sustainable prevention of mosquito population.
The cold fogging machines offered by UPL SAS are lightweight, energy-efficient, easy to operate, and designed to minimize air pollution while effectively targeting mosquito breeding areas. These interventions are powered by formulations approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), ensuring safety for humans, animals, and aquatic ecosystems.”
Highlighting on the collaboration with UPL SAS, Mr. Filly Bapuna, NGO Clean and Green Charitable Trust, said, “Udvada holds a sacred place in the hearts of the Parsi and Zoroastrian communities, and it is our collective duty to ensure the town remains safe, healthy, and welcoming for pilgrims and residents alike. Our collaboration with UPL marks a significant step in this direction. UPL’s proactive approach and innovative mosquito control solutions have brought a much-needed boost to our efforts. This partnership reflects how corporates and communities can drive meaningful, long-term positive change in public health and safety.”
In addition to Udvada, UPL SAS recently conducted a similar demonstration drive in Hyderabad in partnership with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The company is currently in discussions with municipal bodies and state governments in Gujarat, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Karnataka to expand its public health initiatives to more regions across India.
