Dr KR Shroff Foundation (KRSF), a decade-old institution dedicated towards uplifting underprivileged communities through education, recently collaborated with Suzuki Motors Gujarat (SMG), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japanese automobile giant, Suzuki Motor Corporation. The objective of the collaboration is to take forward the Government of Gujarat’s initiative of quality education for all by improving the quality of education and betterment of education facilities at government primary schools in 22 villages of Ahmedabad, Surendranagar and Mehsana.
As part of the collaboration, KRSF will undertake and implement the corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects in the education sector for SMG. Both the companies have mutually agreed and decided to support students of the government primary schools in the respective villages. The government of Gujarat has remained extremely supportive to a series of initiatives by KRSF in the education sector, in enabling its team to work with government-run schools in various villages.
Speaking about the collaboration, Mr Pratul Shroff, founder, KRSF, said, “Our primary focus at KRSF is uplifting underprivileged communities through the power of quality education and making them self-reliant. Over the past decade, we at KRSF have worked across at least 460 rural schools in Gujarat to improve the quality of education among the youth. We are proud to collaborate with SMG and extrapolate our efforts in the education sectors to more villages in the districts of Ahmedabad, Mehsana and Surendranagar.”
SMG will help KRSF with a financial grant, in line with the scope and size of the project, to incur capital expenditures and operational costs for the next three years – the period of implementation of the project.
All in all, the project will ensure to make certain immediate impacts towards improvement in the quality of education of the beneficiaries.
As part of the collaboration, KRSF will begin with a foundational learning approach by providing special coaching to weaker students of class 5-8, who struggle with reading, writing and basic arithmetic. That apart, regular classes will be conducted for Math, Science and English for students of class 3-5 with the help of videos and practical demonstrations to make the learning process more engaging and impactful. This will be especially undertaken in schools facing a shortage of teachers.
Besides providing equitable access to the highest quality of education, KRSF will also focus on value-based education and conduct extensive sessions on health and hygiene to enable children to lead a quality life and help build character. KRSF will make all efforts to make the project sustainable and replicable as and when required.
Over the past decade, KRSF has been relentlessly and successfully working towards bringing about a measurable change in improving the quality of education across some 460 rural schools of Gujarat. The foundation helps educationally weaker students to be standard appropriate along with imparting value education and ensures holistic development of students.
