ISRO and the Gujarat government have entered into a MoU to create a space manufacturing cluster in Sanand

After the Chandrayaan-3 victory, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has affirmed his dedication to raising India to greater heights in the realm of space exploration.

Gandhinagar, 18th October 2023: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has set forth ambitious objectives, aiming to establish a space station by 2035 and execute a lunar mission with astronauts on the moon by 2040. The Chandrayaan missions have played a key role in inspiring more ambitious projects, such as the development of next-generation launch vehicles and the construction of novel launch facilities. Gujarat has taken a significant step by signing a pivotal MoU, showing its commitment to supporting Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s visionary goals.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center IN-SPACe, an autonomous entity under the Department of Space, Government of India, and the Government of Gujarat, with Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel in attendance.

Accordingly, IN-SPACe is positioned to establish its central offices in Sanand, located near Ahmedabad, to spearhead the development of a Space Manufacturing Cluster. Within this cluster, diverse manufacturing enterprises linked to space technology will launch their operations, with In-Space offering support and technical guidance. To facilitate this endeavor, IN-SPACe will also manage a Technical Support and Incubation Center at its headquarters in Bopal.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has expressed that in this significant project, the state government will provide complete support for infrastructure development for industries in both land and space-related sectors.

During the MoU signing ceremony, the event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Minister of Industries Shri Balvantsinh Rajput, Minister of State Shri Harsh Sanghavi, Chief Secretary Shri Raj Kumar, Chairman of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre IN-SPACe, Department of Space, GOI, Dr. Pawan Kumar Goenka, Joint Secretary Shri Lochan Shehra, the distinguished scientist and Director of IN-SPACe Technical, Dr. Rajeev Jyoti, as well as senior secretaries of the Gujarat Government.
