Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel showcased Gujarat’s Growth Story to more than 119 diplomats in New Delhi. During his address, he said, “The success of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, under Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, has established Gujarat as the ‘Most Preferred Investment hub globally.”
The Chief Minister proudly stated that Gujarat has become the top choice for investors worldwide due to proactive policies, investor-friendly environment, streamlined business processes, excellent industrial infrastructure, and quality standard of living.
The Gujarat government held a meeting with diplomats in New Delhi as a part of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit which will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble PM on 10th January 2024. During the event, the Chief Minister expressed the state’s eagerness to strengthen its engagement with countries worldwide.
The Chief Minister mentioned that over the past 20 years, Gujarat has attracted a cumulative Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of USD 55 billion. The state’s excellent connectivity via roads, railways, ports, and airports, provide access not just to India but also to markets in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. Furthermore, around 100 of the Fortune 500 companies have established their operations in Gujarat.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel stated that the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit- the brainchild of Hon’ble PM has transformed into a global platform for business connections, knowledge sharing, fostering socio-economic growth, and forging strategic partnerships. Importantly, more foreign nations are gradually becoming involved in this summit, further enhancing its global significance.
The Chief Minister highlighted the efforts of Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, in promoting investment in India. He highlighted that the country has now fostered a welcoming atmosphere for investment through competitiveness, effective policies, transparency, digitalization, and innovation in the industrial sector.
The Chief Minister emphasized his team is dedicated to continuing the Prime Minister’s legacy with utmost sincerity and hard work. As India accelerates its journey towards development, during Amrit Kaal, with a focus on progress, the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit’s theme, ‘Gateway to the Future’ is set to further the PM’s vision of a Viksit Bharat at 2047.
The Chief Minister outlined that Gujarat, recognized for its investor-friendly policies, received an FDI of $21.9 billion in 2021. Companies from various countries, including the US, Japan, France, Germany, Netherlands, UK, Switzerland, Italy, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, have made substantial investments in diverse sectors in Gujarat.
He outlined the state government’s commitment to providing an investor-friendly business environment through incentives to industries in different sectors. The state government has introduced policies, to promote sustainable development and industrial innovation, like the Integrated Logistics and Logistics Park Policy 2021, Electric Vehicle Policy 2021, Solar Policy 2021, Industrial Policy 2020, Tourism Policy, and Textile Policy, among others.
Furthermore, Gujarat has recently implemented the Renewable Energy Policy 2023 to promote green growth and has set a target of generating 100 GW of renewable energy under the Green Hydrogen Mission.
The Chief Minister stated that the aim of these policies is to create an all-encompassing ecosystem for companies and to make Gujarat’s industries globally competitive. He also highlighted the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit has promoted both vibrant culture and tourism. He urged attendees to partake in the festivities of Vibrant Navratri and the Kite Festival, which are popular cultural celebrations.
The Chief Minister extended an invitation to the diplomats to visit the Statue of Unity, the World’s Tallest Statue, symbolizing India’s unity and integrity. He expressed confidence that Gujarat will play an important role through future-ready mega projects like GIFT City, DREAM City, Dholera SIR, Greenfield Ports, and PCPIR by providing a robust platform for industries in the coming years.
External Affairs Minister Shri S. Jaishankar stated that the G20 truly realizes the concept of preparing India for global development and the world for India’s progress and Gujarat truly fulfils the same through the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. He highlighted that this concept will be prominently showcased at the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in 2024. He also commended the entrepreneurial prowess and business acumen of the Gujarati people, noting that their skills are recognized worldwide, as there are Gujarati communities in nearly every country.
The Minister of External Affairs praised Gujarat as a trailblazer, excelling in various economic sectors. Gujarat has taken the lead in pioneering initiatives, such as Electric Vehicles (EV), Aviation, and Semiconductor industries. The state is actively driving several India-specific projects, benefitting from its robust economic position and willingness to take calculated risks. Additionally, the Minister highlighted the productivity of Gujarat’s roads and commended the state’s impressive infrastructure development efforts.
He emphasized that the world now needs growth engines and production centres that are more reliable and transparent. Recently, India has announced the India Middle East Europe Corridor (IMEC), which will also pass through Gujarat.
Chief Secretary Shri Raj Kumar extended invitations to diplomats to explore investment opportunities in various emerging sectors of Gujarat. He highlighted that Gujarat, under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, has become a policy-driven and investor friendly state by providing fast-paced approvals through single-window system.
