Ahmedabad, 11th October 2021: India’s largest degree apprenticeship program NETAP [National Employability through Apprenticeship Program] from TeamLease Skills University has launched the latest edition of their Apprenticeship Outlook Report for H2 2021 (July to December 2021). Out of the 14 cities analyzed in the report, Ahmedabad has emerged as the top non-metro for apprentices. Close to 69% of the employers are keen to hire apprentices in Ahmedabad. From a pan India perspective, over 45% of employers are keen to hire.
Apprentice hiring sentiment has seen a 15% increase from H1 2021 to H2 2021. In the first half of the year, only 54% of India Inc were keen to hire more as compared to the current 69%.
Sharing his views on the current apprentice hiring in Ahmedabad, Sumit Kumar, Vice President- NETAP, TeamLease Skill University says: “Ahmedabad has been one of the most promising markets for apprentices. Over the years we have seen industrial business picking up in the region and the inclination to hire apprentices has thus grown consistently. Additionally the thrust from the government to boost apprenticeships, by introducing additional finances has also enabled the ecosystem to flourish. In fact, the CAGR for apprentice hiring sentiment stands at 4% y-o-y. Some of the sectors which have been witnessing a comparatively higher hiring intent are FMCG &D, BFSI, Logistics, Travel & Hospitality, Automobiles and Health & Pharmaceuticals.”
Deep diving into the report findings, the most in-demand job roles for apprentices are Machinist, Production Apprentice, Automobile Engineer, Software / IT Engineer, Electrical and Electronics Technician, Mechanic / Automobile Technician and Production Technician.
“The pandemic has been uncertain for industries over the past one and half years, however despite this distress, companies seems to investing in a building a talent pipeline. In fact, in the last 2 years productivity has become the focal point of all HR decisions and this is also a reason for the growing interest in models like apprenticeship that help employers create a steady pool of productive talent. The optimism will continue to grow as more employers are realizing the true strength of apprenticeships to hire skilled productive talent, locally”, added Mr Kumar.
The Apprenticeship Outlook Report is a detailed survey, covering 14 cities and 18 leading sectors. The report has surveyed 833 companies and captures the apprentice hiring sentiment for the period H2 (July to December) 2021.
