For the first time in 60 years’ history of Gujarat, Gujarat players will represent the country in Olympic Games. For the first time in 60-years of history of Gujarat state, six athletes from the state will represent India in the upcoming Olympic Games.
In the Olympic Games 2021 to be held in Tokyo from July 23, six female athletes of Gujarat have been selected.
Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani has congratulated these six sportspersons for this unprecedented achievement of Gujarat’s women power in sports sector and wished them to shine at the top in Tokyo Olympics.
Gujarat’s six daughters including Maana Patel in Swimming, Elavenil Valarivan in Shooting, Ankita Raina in Tennis, Sonal Patel and Bhavina Patel in Para Table Tennis and Parul Parmar in Para Badminton will compete with athletes from other countries at Tokyo Olympics- Paralympic.
Encouraging these proud daughters, CM Mr. Vijay Rupani said that Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has given a long-standing policy to motivate the youth of Gujarat in sports field by inspiring projects like Khel Mahakumbh which is yielding pleasant results. This is the result of the state government’s policy of encouraging, assisting and training the youth in the field of sports for last two decades.
This achievement will give a new impetus to the government’s motive to enable Gujarat to host Olympic competitions and prepare athletes to compete at the international level by setting up a world class structure of sports in the state.
It is worth mentioning here that Tokyo Olympics-2021 will be held in Tokyo, Japan from July 23, 2021.
