Driven by his love for football, Dhanbad boy, Amit Kumar Mahato, chronicled an extraordinary journey filled with adversities and moral triumphs. Much like other humble households is his hometown, his parent felt that the responsibilities of an early marriage would weigh down his passion for the game.

But Mahato had other plans. Despite limited resources and qualification he set off for this goal. The quest for a livelihood that could assist his football coaching brought him hundreds of kilometres away to Ahmedabad. The journey was far from being easy. For many years since, the Ahmedabad Railway Station became his home before he was able to move into a shared accommodation with eight others.

Mahato began selling earphones during the day to support his football coaching in the evenings. Soon his unwavering dedication for the sport, came to his coaches, notice who decided to pay for his training. The warm gesture empowered him to support his family with a portion of the measly INR 5000 he earned every month.

With the word getting out, many people including his colleagues at the football academy volunteered to help him with training gears such as shoes and protective equipment. He continued to visit the Adani Sportsline Football Ground in Adani Shantigram to pursue his coaching.

One day his story came to the notice of the management running the facility. Touched by his dedication for the job, the Adani Sportsline team waived off his coaching fees and awarded him with a better paying job of a Field Maintenance Officer.
