The Aarihant Homeopathic Medical College and Research Institute, affiliated with the Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, organised a visit of their students and faculty members to Tintoda village to mark the World Leprosy Day on Tuesday. The World Leprosy Day is observed every year on January 30, to increase the public awareness about Leprosy and its spread.
The visit was part of a medical camp and an awareness programme organised by the university. Some 63 students went for the visit under the guidance of Principal of Aarihant Homeopathic Medical College and Research Institute, Professor (Dr) Amita V Peter along with Dr Rakesh K Sharma, Dr Chintan Pandya, Dr Jaya Srivastava, and Dr Disha Shrotriya. Dr Sharma, the professor, and head of the Department of Community Medicine at the institute, served as the faculty coordinator along with Dr Srivastava, who is the assistant professor in the same department.
Students visited and held a medical camp at the community hall of the village. Following this, a group of students also undertook a door-to-door awareness campaign along with their faculty mentors.
During the medical camp, students who were on the visit shared all the details about Leprosy disease and its spread and informed the villagers about the importance of beating leprosy.
The people who attended the camp actively cooperated with the students and gained knowledge about general health and nutrition besides the illness. As part of the medical camp, a free blood sugar test to detect diabetes was also done.
